Parks and Outdoor Recreation Near Little Falls, New Jersey

There are a number off great outdoor spaces in Little Falls. Wilmore Park is a great place for kids and families but the part of the Morris Canal Greenway that runs through the town is also a great resource to be able to jog, walk your dog or just enjoy nature.

Wilmore Memorial Park (AKA “Tank Park”)

Address: Wilmore Rd, Little Falls, NJ 07424

Wilmore park is also called “Tank Park” by some people in Little Falls because of its World War II era M 5 Light Tank that sits at one end.

The park features a nice, fenced-in playground with swings, slides and playground equipment for kids to play on. It also has plenty of picnic benches for seating, etc. There is also enough grass to be able to play a game of pickup football or small-sided soccer games.

Little Falls Recreation Center

Hours: Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 8:30 PM.

The “Rec” Center has a wonderful list of indoor activities like yoga, basketball, zumba, and even fencing.

Outdoor facilities include a playground (with a rock-climbing wall) baseball, softball, soccer and football fields for town “Rec” or personal, informal exercise.

Peckman Preserve (AKA “Peckman Park” )

Hours: The park usually closes around dusk.

Peckman Preserve is a space along the Morris Canal an approximately 12 acre park that provides a trail for walking, jogging, and biking (cycling). Traversing the trail, you may even see some beautiful plant and animal life.

Morris Canal Greenway

Address: The canal winds its way through Little Falls. There are multiple access points along Main Street.

The Morris Canal stretches across Passaic, Warren, Morris, and Essex Counties. As you might have imagines, it cuts through Little Falls. During the last few years, a big effort has been made to set aside green spaces along the canal to preserve historic sites and provide walking, biking, or hiking trails that are interconnected. These trails are a great place to get fresh air, commune with nature and be healthy!
